Meetings and Programs

Our chapter's program year begins in September and ends in May of the following year. We do not meet in the summer months of June, July, and August.

Our usual meeting location is The New Hanover County Cooperative Extension Auditorium in Wilmington, North Carolina. The location address and map are below.

This year, all of our general meetings are taking place at the New Hanover Arboretum.  Should there be any  changes, members will be advised by email and posted on website.

Typically, meetings are the third Thursday of the month, but in some cases, this year's meetings dates may vary. consult Upcoming Events Schedule.

Our gathering in May is hosted by a chapter member and always in a "coastal casual" location. The meeting closes our official year with an informal covered dish luncheon to celebrate our friendships through flowers and to install chapter officers for the following year.

Dear members of Ikebana Chapter 212,

June 1, 2020

Dear Members of Ikebana Chapter 212;

I am pleased to announce that we will be meeting again this fall. Thanks to Sue Stubblefield who graciously offered to reserve the Parsley Woods Clubhouse @ 6616 Sedgewood Drive, we are now scheduled to meet there for the first three months of our programs.

The Arboretum is not scheduling meetings until next year (2021). Perhaps, at that time, we can resume our January – April meetings in that space. We are also investigating the possibilities of virtual meetings and demonstrations.

As you know, there is nothing definite where the virus is concerned, so we are keeping flexible to insure the continuation of the club. You will be notified of any schedule changes in a timely manner.

Of course we are all  mindful of the challenges and limitations of meeting during these trying times, but feel confident that we can successfully observe social distancing in the Parsley Woods Clubhouse.  There is plenty of space for seating inside or outside on the deck.  It is a lovely space with a kitchen and bathroom facilities.  There is also plenty of parking. If we take care to wear masks and sanitize our space before and after use, we will be following protocols that most of you have already been using.

We are concerned with keeping our members safe, but also desire to honor the legacy of our founding members and membership who have worked tirelessly to keep Ikebana International Wilmington Chapter 212 thriving for the past 41 years.

To that end, we will continue to serve.

I look forward to seeing you all in the Fall, when we say "Thank you for a job well done" to the 2019-2020 Board and welcome the Board for 2020-2021.

"Friendship Through Flowers"
