Meetings and Programs

Our chapter's program year begins in September and ends in May of the following year. We do not meet in the summer months of June, July, and August.

Our usual meeting location is The New Hanover County Cooperative Extension Auditorium in Wilmington, North Carolina. The location address and map are below.

This year, all of our general meetings are taking place at the New Hanover Arboretum.  Should there be any  changes, members will be advised by email and posted on website.

Typically, meetings are the third Thursday of the month, but in some cases, this year's meetings dates may vary. consult Upcoming Events Schedule.

Our gathering in May is hosted by a chapter member and always in a "coastal casual" location. The meeting closes our official year with an informal covered dish luncheon to celebrate our friendships through flowers and to install chapter officers for the following year.

Dear members of Ikebana Chapter 212, I hope that everyone has had a grand summer full of relaxation, trips and happy times with families.

Even though the hot weather is still here, the calendar says that fall is here with new beginnings.

I welcome everyone who has been with us in years past and the new members who have recently joined Ikebana International Chapter 212, to a new year, a new beginning.

New Beginnings for the upcoming year will start on Sept. 27th, 2019 at the New Hanover Arboretum.

Please note that September 27th is a Friday. Please arrive at 9:30AM for Social time. The meeting will begin promptly at 10:00am.

We are starting the season off with a program entitled "Leaf Manipulation" this will be a Demonstration by members of II Chapter 212.  It will be a lot of fun to see all the many different ways that you can manipulate leaves, to create new designs!

So, mark your Calendars and come ready to start a new chapter!

Carole Osman has worked hard to plan out a year of fun and learning with Workshops and Professors in the schools of Ikenobo, Sogetsu and Ohara.

Please be sure to sign up for the Workshops when they are planned and support the Chapter.

All the information will be available to you in the new Directory, which will be hopefully ready and distributed at our first meeting.

Looking ahead to October, we will have Sensei Muriel Scrivner, one of the highest ranking professors of Ikenobo, coming to teach classes on October 24th nd 25th, 2019.

Carole Osman will have sign up sheets/forms for classes at the September 27th meeting, if you wish to sign up early.

We have a great Chapter, with many talented and fun people, who are quick to learn and quick to share.

I am looking forward to being your President this year!!

Friendship Through Flowers,

Mary Lee Hawse, President
